Why is there this strange square front face/plane on the front leg protectors? |
The area flattened out on the leading legguard is made to help encapsulate the ball when it hits the legguard. The encapsulation will help rebound the ball back towards the direction it comes from. This does reduce the chances of pad bat deflections and dismissals. Behind this rebound zone on the P1 model is an air cavity to further promote this encapsulation and reduce rebound speed as well. |
